The Conference is under the patronage of the Polish Chemical Society

Dear Colleagues,
We cordially invite you to participate in the scientific conference titled "Wrocław Molecular Modeling Days," organized by the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wrocław.
The conference will take place on February 11–12, 2026.
"Wrocław Molecular Modeling Days" (in Polish: Wrocławskie Dni Modelowania Molekularnego, WDMM) is a conference organized to introduce you to the history of the development of Molecular Modeling methods and their applications in solving diverse scientific problems at the intersection of chemistry, physics, biochemistry, and computer science. The advancement of Molecular Modeling methods, as well as the applicability of theoretical chemistry/physics approaches, would not be possible without progress in the field of computers and supercomputers. What exactly is Molecular Modeling? We will seek answers to this and other questions during our two-day meeting. Our invited Guests, as well as the organizers, will strive to acquaint you with research topics conducted using computational chemistry/physics tools. We will also say a few words about the development of computational methods, as the world does not stand still, and Nature still holds its secrets before us; like "scientific detectives," we strive to uncover and understand these secrets. The aim of the Conference is to present, both in theory and in practice, the research topics pursued by our invited Guests as well as by us, the event organizers. We also plan to take a step back in time and briefly present to you the history of the practical application of computational methods in solving scientific problems over the past 30 years, or even earlier...
Traditionally, the conference we organize will follow an open format - participation is free of charge for all interested individuals including coffee breaks; however, travel, meals, and accommodation remain the responsibility of the Participants. Nevertheless, we kindly ask you to register your intention to participate in advance via registration (the registration form is available HERE; registration will close on February 10, 2026). The conference will be conducted in Polish and partially in English (depending on the Speaker).

We invite you to browse the AGENDA (last updated 12.02.2026) and BOOK OF ABSTRACTS (available soon) - these documents will be duly updated.

The conference will feature the lectures by (listed in alphabetical order):
  • Prof. dr hab. inż. Wojciech Bartkowiak (Politechnika Wrocławska)
  • Prof. dr Małgorzata Biczysko (Uniwersytet Wrocławski)
  • Prof. Edgar Hernan Del Carpio Garcia (Uniwersytet Wrocławski)
  • dr inż. Edyta Dyguda-Kazimierowicz (Politechnika Wrocławska)
  • dr hab. inż. Robert Góra, prof. PWr (Politechnika Wrocławska)
  • Prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Kamieniarz (Uniwersytet Adama Mickiewicza, Poznań)
  • Prof. dr hab. Aleksander Koll (NWSM Wrocław)
  • dr inż. Karol Kułacz (Uniwersytet Wrocławski)
  • Prof. dr hab. Zdzisław Latajka (Uniwersytet Wrocławski)
  • dr hab. Małgorzata Małecka, prof. INTiBS PAN (Polska Akademia Nauk, Wrocław)
  • dr inż. Jacek Oko, prof. PWr (Wrocław Centre for Networking and Supercomputing (WCSS), Politechnika Wrocławska)
  • dr hab. inż. Tomasz Olszewski, prof. PWr (Politechnika Wrocławska)
  • Prof. dr hab. inż. Szczepan Roszak (Politechnika Wrocławska)
  • Prof. dr hab. inż. W. Andrzej Sokalski (Politechnika Wrocławska)
  • Prof. dr hab. Robert Wieczorek (Uniwersytet Wrocławski)
  • Prof. dr hab. inż. Robert Zaleśny (Politechnika Wrocławska)
Thus, the lectures as well as the workshops will be conducted in Polish or English (depending on the preferences of the Speaker and Participants).

The meeting will be enriched by Short-form presentations, namely 10-minute talks prepared by students and PhD students. We plan 12 such presentations. Depending on the number of submitted proposals, we reserve the right to choose selected submissions as oral talks on the basis of their abstracts - the participants selected for oral talks will be informed via email until 06.02.2026; the remaining presentations will be transferred to the poster session. For those willing to present their research or their scientific interests, we also plan to hold online poster sessions, available throughout the duration of the event. We ask you to prepare the abstracts according to the template and send them until 31.01.2026 to the contact emails provided below.

The Conference will also feature four WORKSHOPS, allowing the participants to gain practical experience on the basics of bioinformatics, ab initio molecular dynamics (Car-Parrinello scheme), crystal engineering and computer-aided design of biologically active compounds. The workshop attendance is limited (each day max. 10 persons per each of two concurrent workshop sessions on different topics; the attendance will be based on the first-come first-served order of registration).

More info on the workshops can be found in their abstracts:

Workshop 1 – 11.02 – mgr Chaitali Barman: Decoding Proteins in Silico: Bioinformatics, Dynamics, and Design

Workshop 2 – 11.02 – dr hab. Aneta Jezierska, prof. UWr and dr hab. Jarosław J. Panek, prof. UWr: Pierwsze kroki z metodą dynamiki Cara i Parrinello / First steps with Car-Parrinello Molecular Dynamics

Workshop 3 – 12.02 – prof. Edgar Hernan Del Carpio Garcia: Rethinking Drug Design: From Classical to New Approaches

Workshop 4 – 12.02 – dr hab. Andrzej Kochel, prof. UWr: Wykorzystywanie danych strukturalnych w metodach obliczeniowych – baza CSD

We cordially invite you and hope that each of you will find something interesting. Let's celebrate Wrocław Molecular Modeling Days together.

with kind regards,
